Girl Bug in the Spring

HeaBug is growing too fast. Her hair is getting longer, she's playing t-ball, still doing her gymnastics, she's old enough now that at Brother's games, she just runs off and plays with her pals. She's writing all of her letters. She makes up her own songs. She plays and plays and plays with her toys. She's able to navigate most apple devices. She's such a sassy pants and I can't get enough of her.

Baseball is back, Opening Day 2013

 
 We had Opening day! This is our 2nd full season playing at ELB. It's Hea Bug's first season and she's playing on the Rookie Rangers. Mr. B is as assistant coach for both of their teams and I am NOT a team mom for either team. This season, I will bring my chair and my cheering voice and I will be supporting my players (and the coach... love that guy).

We chose to ride our bikes to avoid the hassle of parking. Good choice. After we rode over to the town center for a stop at the bike store, the book store and lunch at Islands. Then a nice ride along the riverbed to take us home.

The night before the regular season, JT had a practice game. They played 7 innings for 2.5 hours! That's a long time after having been at school all day. Plus it got super cold at the field. Now that HeaBug is old enough to run around with her homegirls, it makes it easier to sit and watch. He hit a grand slam ladies and gents. Yes he did. Then he pitched. He caught. He played short and 2nd. What I love the most is that these kids get to move around and really experience baseball. This is where they get to fall in love with the game. It's not always about winning, especially at this age. Yes it's exciting but truly who cares about being undefeated or all stars when you're 8 years old. What we want for JT is to just get out there and play.
We are a baseball loving family for sure.

HeaBug is excited to play because it's baseball and we love it. Her first sport is gymnastics but we want her to try out playing everything! Baseball seemed like a great place to start. When HeaBug was 5 days old, I carried her in the sling to watch brother at his first t-ball practice. 

She's always spent Spring at the field. 

We sure are proud of our kids. We love that they love to be active and play sports. We love cheering for them and coaching them and supporting them. I have countless baseball shirts from different teams. Mr. B and JT have more hats than any other person I know. HeaBug has quite the collection of team hair bows. Playing team sports will help them to learn so many important life skills. Physical exercise, it's key to be active and they will grow up healthy and strong. Building their self esteem, learning to handle disappointment, being empathetic to others, commitment, good sportsmanship and fostering friendships with kids on your own team and other teams. Being able to play nicely and be graceful in victory and defeat. Those are the things that we want for them. They are well on their way.

The 2011 Spring Baseball season has ended for us. JT had an awesome time playing on the Twins and we met a lot of really cool families. Coaches were awesome, Parents were great, Kids had fun, can't really ask for much more than that.

I team-mom'd this year. We had a pretty great bunch. After our last game, we went straight to Cirvellos for pizza! We handed out special "Slugger Awards" to each of the players and then gave thank you gifts to the assistant coaches (who doesn't love Sunflower Seeds and Big League Chew and a framed photo of The Guys on Family Fun Day?). For Coach Freddy, I found a wood grained baseball that had the Twin's logo stamped on it. Over the last few games and practices we got all the boys to sign it and that was our special gift to him.

The boys all learned so much and had a great time in the process. Super proud of JT and looking forward to our Baseball Filled Lives in the future! Go Twins!

JT is playing for the Rookie Twins this year. Mr B is helping Coach and Mrs B is somehow Team Mom. One of these days, I'm gonna learn about that word "No"... I seem to do fine when it comes to my 6 and 2 year olds haha.






We've got a great team. Rookie Division plays non competitively, hitting off a pitching machine and learning about getting out and getting others out. Even though we don't keep score yet we still want them to learn. That running the bases is left in T-ball. Run fast and through first base or take your seat and cheer for the rest of your team.
There was an official pancake breakfast opening ceremony and a parade. Our Twins walked behind their AWESOME CUSTOM banner designed by the ever talented Frosties and printed by out great business associates and friends at Sew What? Inc. We're SO glad to have such amazing people in our lives that are willing to donate their time, talents and resources. BIG THANK YOU!

With the ceremony at 9 and our first game not until 3, we all took a break and came back for our first game agains the White Sox. The boys hit hard and played SO well, we were incredibly impressed and proud. They did a great job cheering for each other and I kept our bench very neat! I even got the boys to put all of their empty bottles and trash in a basket that I bring so we don't "leave our junk on the earth" lol. They're such a great bunch. JT was amazing. He and all the other Twins kept sliding at home. Whoever decided that white was a great color for baseball pants was obviously not a Mom. Hello OxyClean!

Needless to say, we're proud to be Twins Fans (This Season Anyway) and Super Proud fans of JT!

PreSchool and T-Ball are Pau!

J.T. has officially finished another season of T-ball. He really enjoyed playing and we enjoyed seeing his skill level and appreciation for the game improve and evolve. He's got a great glove and a killer swing. At his team party he was awarded the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards. That's our little Dodger! They had a cute team party and we passed out mini photo albums that I made of our team over the season.

School's Out!

June 23rd was J.T.'s last day of Pre-K! He's now a bonifide kindergartner. We were so proud of our little guy. Thanks Ms. Winnie and Mr. Vincent! (I don't know what's up with his weird picture faces today...) He'll miss his best buddy Phoenix. Martina will miss him.

Take me out to the (T)Ball Game

So JT is in full swing of his second tball season at Heartwell Cal Ripken. This year, he's a Dodger!!! Seeing as how we just might be Ginormous (yes, that's what I said) Dodger fans, this was a great excuse to expand our LA gear!

Before he got his jersey, Coach asked what number he wanted on the back and he says (without missing a beat...) "24, cuz that's how we roll". He said this because, well look for yourself... All the Imbachs are number 24 in football. Haha!



As it goes, they decided to only do single digits for our team and JT ended up number 2. He's still excited to be a Dodger though.


Our opening ceremonies were postponed twice due to the rain and we had a little scheduling confusion but things have since worked themselves out. We volunteer in the snack shack too, I've promised Jack that my next scheduled evening shift (we're required to work two but it's kinda fun so we're donating more time) that he can come and help out too. So we're spending our Saturdays at "the Field". You're welcome to swing by anytime and start a wave... It'll happen. One of these days ;)

Playing Catch Up...

I was awful at blogging this month. We just had so much going on. Here are a few highlights that I didn't get a chance to blog about :)

I had a great visit with my friend Brianna and her sweet baby girl (who's almost 1!) Maile. It was nice to just get in some visiting since there always seems to be something going on.

I got to get in some quality visiting with my sister in law Adriana (check out www.misfitmama.wordpress.com) and while we chatted, the young'uns horsed around! Love these guys to pieces!! I can't believe how fast they're growing!


Jack had his last T-ball Game and the whole fam came out to support him! Thanks so much for cheering him on this season. He had a ton of fun being part of the Braves!



Nohea rolled over for the first time! It was to her left and toward a silly Auntie Nini!


We got to spend some time with Tom (Robert's dad) while he was on a short break from the "Walking With Dinosaurs" tour. They came down to Bob's Hawaiian Restaurant (where my dad plays music every Friday) and had some onolicious dinner with us.
